Rejuvenating Flower Beds

Posted August 16, 2021

Hot summer sun rays and heat can take its toll on flower beds and late summer early fall is a good time to rejuvenate them! Rose & Flower 4-8-4 is one of our favorites for getting those beds back in flowering glory.

Rose and Flower Mix supplies your favorite flowering annuals and perennial with the nutrients they need for vigorous growth and sensational flowers. It can be used on roses, bulbs, flowering shrubs and even onions and garlic.

There are a few ways you can apply Rose & Flower Mix in established beds, new transplants and containers.

  • Flower beds: side dress with 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup around each plant (depending on the size) and carefully work into the soil or apply a small amount of compost over the Rose & Flower Mix once it has been applied around the plant.
  • Containers:  mix 1-2 tablespoons with a small of compost or potting soil and side dress around the plants.
  • For new transplants: add 1/2 cup per hole, mix into soil and water in well.

Rose and flower is derived from:

Fish Bone Meal - this helps strengthen root systems and promotes buds and flowers.

Blood Meal - this quickly greens up the foliage.

Langbeinite - promotes overall health of plants and lowers the pH slightly.

Alfalfa Meal - roses especially love alfalfa meal and it encourages growth of all flowers and bulbs.

Seabird Guano - dramatically increase the amount and size of blooms.

Rock Phosphate - is a superb nutrient resource for all types of plants.

Kelp Meal - rich source of potash and minerals.

Humic Acid - helps plants take up all those nutrients above!

Rose & Flower should be applied once a month for best flowering and health of your plants. If you have missed fertilizing throughout the growing season and your plants need a pick-me-up, late summer or early fall is an excellent time to give a jump in the right direction.
