Sea Island Brown Cotton is a beautiful heirloom cotton grown for its naturally colored warm brown fiber. The plants are ornamental as well as useful, producing hibiscus-like flowers followed by cotton bolls filled with soft brown lint surrounding the seeds. Because the fiber is naturally pigmented, it does not need to be dyed and can deepen slightly in color after washing.
It prefers a long, hot growing season and should be planted in full sun after the soil has warmed and all danger of frost has passed. Cotton does best in well-drained soil and appreciates regular moisture while establishing, followed by somewhat drier conditions as the bolls mature. Plants commonly grow around 4–6 feet tall, depending on climate and growing conditions.
These seeds where grown right here on our homestead.
