Abu Rawan Tomato For Hot Climates

Posted February 18, 2017

Our Southern Utah Climate is different than 50 miles in any direction.  HOT!  Our summers can reach 115 degrees and hold for a large portion of the day, making it hard to get any harvest of tomatoes during those hot months.  Abu Rawan Tomato was an experiment that showed us great production through the hottest of summers.  Abu Rawan tomato comes from Iraq, so of course it is adapted to a hot climate.

Abu Rawan, a determinate tomato has a sweet taste, it's free of cracking, which can be a problem in extreme heat.  Matures around 70 days.  Full of flavor and red with solid flesh that is perfect for salsa!

I have problems in this area with root-knot nematodes. Do you know if the Rawan tomato has any resistance to these nematodes?
