How to Grow Sprouts

Sprouts offer fresh delicious food any time of the year.  Winter months are perfect to grow your own live, raw food and provide some of the freshest produce available.  

Sprouts are easy to grow with out any experience.  They are a great project for kids to grow and learn about seed sprouting.  

Sprouts are faster than garden crops.  They are ready in just 3-5 days.

There are several choices of sprouts to grow.  Broccoli, mung beans, alfalfa, radish, and so many others.  

Spouting 101

1. Soak - Place sprouting seeds (1-3 T.)  in a clean quart jar.  Add cool fresh water, cap with sprouting lid and soak.

2. Rinse - Drain water from jar (with lid on) and rinse again with fresh water twice a day.  On the last day place in indirect light to green up sprouts. 

3. Harvest - After 3-5 days harvest your homegrown sprouts and enjoy!  Sprouts can be keep in an airtight container in the fridge. 

You can put sprouts on salads, sandwiches or just eat plain.
