Make Stinging Nettle Tea

Posted February 24, 2016

Stinging Nettle is more than just a plant that give you a bite when touched to the skin!  When handled with care and gloves, nettle can be harvested and made into a healthy tea.  Nettle leaves are considered to be higher in iron than spinach, and are used as a tonic for the blood.  Nettle can help cleanse the digestive tract, promote healthy digestion, and ease stomach problems.  Use a handful of fresh nettle leaves, or 1 oz of dried into a teapot and fill with boiling water.  Steep for at least 10 minutes and up to 4 hours.  Strain and drink within 36 hours.  Add a little local honey or lemon to taste.  If there is any tea left over, you can rinse you hair or even water your houseplants with it!  No waste here!
